Invitation to participate in round 2 of the Futures of Digital Democracy 
Survey (FDDS)

We want to invite you to participate in the second round of an expert 
survey that addresses a key political topic of our time: the future of 
democracy in the digital age and the rise of authoritarianism.

The EU research project INNOVADE: Innovative Democracy through 
Digitalisation https://innovade-democracy.eu/ studies digital democracy. 
Paderborn University’s INNOVADE research team (led by Christian Fuchs) 
runs the Futures of Digital Democracy Survey (FDDS):

In round 1, digital democracy experts assessed the opportunities and 
risks of digital democracy.

Building on the results of round 1 and reporting some of the round 1 
results, we invite you to now take part in round 2 and to reflect on the 
round 1 results and additional topics. The focus of round 2 is the 
question of how (digital) society should and could look like in 2036 - 
desirable and undesirable digital futures and how we can achieve 
desirable futures and avoid undesirable ones.

Participation will take around 10 minutes:

The goal of the survey is to analyse how digital media experts assess 
the potential futures of digital society.

The datasets of both survey rounds will be published as open data in the 
open research repository zenodo.org

INNVADE will use the results of the survey as inputs to European Union 
policy debates on the future of democracy.
