<nettime> Carrier-Bag.net: Three new texts

Dear nettime,

our online-journal carrier-bag.net publishes critical analysis around the newest developments in the tech and art field and just published three exciting new texts:

Vectofascim
Gregory Chatonsky coined the term vectofascism for a political development that transforms classic mechanisms of fascism (the cult of the leader, the suppression of truth, the construction of an enemy) into the high-dimensional latent spaces of AI models. He examines the economics of lies, according to which it is easier to produce a lie than to refute it. As a counter-strategy, he drafts a common awareness of the existential threat to human life posed by the ecological catastrophe.

Vibe coding the future
In an impressive analysis, Simon Denny traces how influential AI technology companies deliberately take up the modernist imagery and rhetoric of Italian Futurism in order to culturally anchor a new militaristic technology policy. In his artistic practice, Denny combines plotter techniques, AI-generated image models, and the aesthetics of historical Futurism, making these entanglements of technology, art, and militarization visible and critically negotiable.

Prompted Monads
Starting from Munich's Akademiestraße as a symbolic intersection of AI research at LMU, generative media art at the Kunstakademie, and Bertold Brecht's literary legacy, the text by art historian Boris Čučković Berger shows how artistic practice can make political responsibility visible, which systematically disappears in totalizing AI narratives. He proposes to study AI not as a comprehensive totalization, but as a monad. The concept of the monad reflects social and technical conditions in a fractured way, without providing a direct overview of the whole.

If need for discussion of these texts arises, Nettime would be an excellent place for it.
